HeyCoach is an AI-powered fitness coaching app. We collect information to personalize your training, track your progress, and improve the coaching experience. We do not sell your personal information. Your workout data, health metrics, and coaching conversations are used only to make your training better.

Information We Collect

• Account information: name, email, phone number, authentication status.
• Fitness profile: goals, experience level, equipment, injuries, preferred workout times, and coaching style preferences from your onboarding quiz.
• Workout data: completed workouts, sets, reps, weights used, workout duration, and exercise history.
• Coaching conversations: messages between you and your AI coach, including feedback, injury reports, and schedule preferences.
• Health data (optional): if you connect Apple Health, we may read resting heart rate, HRV, sleep data, steps, and workout records to personalize coaching.
• Gamification data: XP, streaks, achievements, and challenge progress.
• Device information: push notification tokens, device platform, app version, IP address, and technical diagnostics.

How We Use Your Information

AI Coaching & Your Data

Your coaching conversations and fitness data are sent to AI providers (such as Anthropic) to generate personalized responses and workout plans. These providers process your data under strict data processing agreements and do not use your data to train their models. Your conversations are stored in our database to maintain coaching context across sessions.

Push Notifications

We send push notifications for workout reminders, streak milestones, weekly challenge updates, and post-workout check-ins. You can disable notifications at any time in the app's profile settings or your device settings. Your push token is stored on our servers and automatically removed when you log out or when we detect your device is no longer registered.

Health Data

If you choose to connect Apple Health, we read health metrics to enhance coaching recommendations (e.g., suggesting lighter workouts when your HRV is low). Health data is synced to our servers and stored alongside your user profile. You can disconnect Apple Health at any time in the app's settings. We never share health data with advertisers.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:

• AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) for coaching conversations, under DPAs.
• Cloud infrastructure providers (Cloudflare, PostgreSQL hosting) for service operation.
• Push notification services (Expo) for delivering notifications to your device.
• Law enforcement when legally required.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Workout history and coaching conversations are kept to provide continuous coaching context. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), secure session management, and access controls to protect your data. Authentication tokens are stored in secure device storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. You can manage most of your data directly in the app. For account deletion or data export requests, contact us at the email below.

Children

HeyCoach is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The updated version becomes effective when posted.
